Cricket itself as a more professional sports set-up, the BCCI, the cricket control body in India announced the appointment of Rahul Johri as its first-ever Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mr. Johri will assume his new assignment on June 1, this year. He will report to BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur. He will be responsible for the smooth functioning of cricket operations, promotion of sport and stakeholder management. Prior to be appointed as BCCI’s CEO, Mr. Johri was associated with the Asia Pacific as its executive vice-president and general manager for South Asia with Discovery Networks.
Rangana Herath Bids Adieu to ODI and T20 Cricket
Veteran Sri Lankan Spinner Rangana Herath announced his retirement from One Day Inter-national and Twenty 20 Cricket formats on April 17, 2016 to focus completely on test Cricket. He was the member of Sri Lanka’s T-20 World Cup Winning squad in 2014. He struck 74 wickets in his 71 ODI career while he took 18 wickets in 17 T 20 matches. He made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2004, while he played his first T 20 inter┬Čnational against Australia in 2011 at Pallekele, Sri Lanka.
